Ice-T (born February 16, 1958 in Newark, New Jersey, actually Tracy Marrow) is an American musician and actor

Ice-T was born in Newark but grew up in Los Angeles. His career began with guest appearances on the series Fame - The path to glory (1983) and the two break-dance movies Breakin 'and Breakin 2 - Electric Boogaloo (both 1984). Inspired by his role as MC, he tried to become a rapper. His name, he leaned against the author Iceberg Slim. His themes reflect life on the street, reflected in the Hood and in gangs. He was one of the first rapper who glorified the lifestyle of a Pimp.

Despite a few singles in the years 1983-86, published his debut album Rhyme Pays until 1987. It was produced by Afrika Islam. In 1992 he founded the heavy metal crossover band Body Count. The band, especially after making the song Cop Killer attention. Warner Brothers took the pressure of public opinion during the pre-Ice-T's next album Home Invasion was not. This enabled him to build his own record company, Rhyme Syndicate.

Ice-T is known to work again with other artists who are not from the hip-hop field. So he took up with Slayer a song for the soundtrack for the film "Judgment Night - Sentenced to kill. With Jello Biafra, he released the song Freedom Of Speech. Together with Six Feet Under Ice-T took on a song called One Bullet Left. He also is featured on the album The truth hurts the band Pro-Pain in the song Put the lights out, as well as with the single Motorhead Born To Raise Hell (released off the Airheads soundtrack-represented).

He has also worked repeatedly with other rappers, most recently by Kool Keith under the name Analog Brothers and Smooth The Hustler and Trigger the Gambler, under the name SMG.

Ice-T is considered one of the most important rappers in general, on the one hand he is a pioneer of gangster rap, the other, he has also surprised with his socially critical lyrics.

His film career, he accelerated from 1991. Since then, he shot a series of films. In quick succession he turned New Jack City, Ricochet - The impact and Trespass. Since then, he is regularly faced the camera, without that his films are seen more frequently in the German speaking region. He mainly plays cops or gangsters. From 1995 he also took on roles in television series.
